Mass Innovation Labs, an accelerated chemistry and biology commercialization and research space located in Kendall Square, and Research Space, developer of an electronic lab notebook used by top universities, medical schools and life sciences companies around the world, announced today that RSpace will be made available to member companies at Mass Innovation Labs.
Since opening its doors, Mass Innovation Labs has become sought after space by organizations ranging from small startups to mature companies, looking to expedite the typically lengthy process of moving into a new lab space. The addition of RSpace gives member companies a valuable tool in advancing their research and commercialization efforts.
RSpace is designed using an open framework that facilities integration with the other applications and tools researchers use in their daily workflow. Unlike many other electronic lab notebooks, RSpace allows researchers to integrate other programs like file sharing apps like Dropbox and One Drive, external file systems which host sequencing data and other kinds of Big Data, the Slack messaging service, developer resources like Github and a freezer sample management system. RSpace creates a collaborative, intuitive and secure platform that allows researchers to produce optimum results.
“RSpace was chosen because it is easy to use yet fully featured”, said Amrit Chaudhuri, CEO and cofounder of Mass Innovation Labs. “This valuable research tool adds to the arsenal of support we provide to companies in areas like setup, workflow, biosafety and other operational programs, ultimately helping companies start work quickly and significantly reduce the typical time it takes to set up lab operations.”
“We’re delighted to partner with Mass Innovation Labs,” said Rory Macneil, CEO and cofounder of Research Space. “The addition of RSpace as a digital environment to complement the world class physical environment Mass Innovation Labs already provides to its member companies is a great example of Mass Innovation Labs commitment to continual innovation.”
Data export from RSpace is easy in a range of formats including pdf, html and xml and at various level of granularity. This enables groups which adopt RSpace to conveniently share data with collaborators, auditors, regulators and investors, and also means that they have a straightforward exit strategy should they choose to stop using RSpace.
